Bat Country: A Sierpinski Tetrahedron Jungle Gym

Welcome to Bat Country!

Bat Country is a 21' tall tetrahedron made of softballs and aluminum bats. It is an adult sized jungle gym. It is our gift to the Burning Man community. We hope that you find it interesting and enjoy it at this year's burn.

Design Details

Bat Country Project Details show the details of our design and construction plans. Sections include the mathematical basis, digitally rendered views of the sculpture, materials and lighting, theoretical construction plans, Playa timeline, and the fate of Bat Country after Burning Man.

  • BatCountry fundraiser - Sat. Apr 26, 2008 at a warehouse in Jack London Square from 7-11PM. We will have a live band, "My First Earthquake", cocktails, and a silent auction of Gwen's artwork.

How to get involved

Financial help

All told the sculpture will cost several thousand dollars to create and install in the desert. So far, we have raised about 20 percent of our costs. We hope that you find the project worthwhile and would like to contribute. You can donate to the project here:
